Here at Argyll College UHI we want to make sure that whilst you’re studying you can be confident in the knowledge that your little ones are well cared for too in our excellent and modern childcare facility, Little Learners’ Nursery.
Located within the private grounds of Argyll College, Dunstaffnage Learning Centre, near Dunbeg, Oban, we can provide day care for up to 32 children from the ages of three months to five years.
The nursery opened in 2006 and is registered with the Care Inspectorate. We have a dedicated team who are committed to your child’s happiness, ensuring that they feel relaxed and at home in their new environment so that they can reach their full potential and have the best possible start in life.
Our main playroom can take up to 26 children aged between two and five. It’s bright and well-resourced and has a diverse collection of toys to stimulate your child. We have loads of ideas for fun activities too. Your child will have plenty of opportunity to develop their self-confidence and self-expression, with lots of social experiences with other adults and children.
In addition, the nursery has two further smaller rooms for up to six younger children aged between three months and two years. These offer a quieter environment for feeding, sleeping and a variety of fun activities to help the babies and young children develop their senses and physical abilities. It’s also the perfect place for a cosy chat, reading stories, singing songs and rhymes.
We have a great outdoor area too and we encourage the children to use it as much as possible, whatever the weather! So long as they’re wrapped up warm there’s plenty to explore and discover. We are privileged to be based in such stunning surroundings and we offer regular outings to the nearby beaches and Dunstaffnage Castle.
A cooked meal is available daily and is prepared using fresh ingredients. We actively plan menus to encourage good eating habits. All snacks and drinks are healthy options too.
Our main focus, though, is to provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment for your child to learn through play and interaction.
We encourage parents and carers to pop by at any time to see how your child is progressing. Additionally, we have a notice board to inform you of all that’s going on and any future activities planned. From the age of two your child will have a dedicated ‘Key Worker’ who will plan activities to meet your child’s individual needs and plan the next steps of learning.
