Gown Hire & Academic Dress
Higher Education graduands are required to wear a gown and hood, which you can order from our official suppliers Ede and Ravenscroft. It is your responsibility to arrange for the hire of your gown – these will be delivered to Queen's Hall for you to collect on the day of the ceremony.
The online portal for ordering gowns will open soon.
Further Education graduands are not required to wear a gown but are expected to dress appropriately in smart / formal attire.
We ask that all graduands dress formally for the occasion. This could be national dress, dark suit, dark tie, dark skirt or dress, white shirt or blouse (no jeans).

Guest Speaker - Brian Cunningham
Our Guest Speaker for the event this year will be renowned TV gardener Brian Cunningham.
Brian has been the Head Gardener at Scone Palace since 2012, and has worked at some of Scotland’s most prestigious gardens, including the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, St Andrews Botanic Garden, and the Backhouse Rossie Estate near Auchtermuchty. He had an unexpected turn in the spotlight in 2014 when Beechgrove Garden came to film a segment at Scone’s Chilli Festival. During the visit, presenter Carole Baxter roped him into a chilli-eating contest—and he’s been a regular face on the show ever since!
Today, Brian leads the ongoing transformation of Scone’s historic walled garden. From formal borders and neatly clipped topiary to blossoming orchards, cut flower beds, and a thriving plant nursery, his work blends tradition with creativity. He’s also passionate about opening the gardens up to the wider community—running practical classes, hands-on workshops, and creating spaces where people can learn, connect, and enjoy locally grown produce.
