Gown Hire & Academic Dress
Gown Hire & Academic Dress
Higher Education graduands are required to wear a gown and hood, which you can order from our official suppliers Ede and Ravenscroft. It is your responsibility to arrange for the hire of your gown – these will be delivered to Queen's Hall for you to collect on the day of the ceremony.
Please take care when ordering your hood as there are different hoods for each qualification level. Take a look at our gown guide below, and if you need further help or advice, please ask a member of college staff.
Further Education graduands are not required to wear a gown but are expected to dress appropriately in academic dress.
We ask that graduands dress formally for the occasion. This could be national dress, dark suit, dark tie, dark skirt or dress, white shirt or blouse (no jeans).
Academic hoods are designed to hook onto the top buttons of shirts or blouses, so please remember that when choosing your outfit.
Guest Tickets
Guest Tickets
We will provide you with two complimentary guest tickets when you register for your ceremony. You have option of requesting up to two additional tickets at the cost of £10 each (subject to availability). Please note that we may not be able to confirm your additional tickets until after the registration deadline.
- You must confirm how many guests you will be bringing on your registration form
- Additional guest tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis
- We will not issue physical tickets for guests, but will have a guest list at the venue
Special arrangements for guests
If you or your guests have mobility difficulties, or any other disability that might affect your enjoyment of the ceremony, please tell us when you register so that we can reserve appropriate seating for you.
Young Children
Young Children
Our ceremony is not really suitable for babies or very young children so we recommend you do not bring them into the hall.
However, we know it can be difficult finding childcare, so if you are bringing younger guests to our ceremony, please try to ensure they remain as quiet as possible so as not to spoil other guests’ enjoyment of the occasion.
Guests leaving the hall during the ceremony may have to wait for a steward to readmit them at an appropriate time.
