Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026 takes place from 2 to 6 March, with the theme Working for Scotland.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week is underway, and UHI Argyll is joining the national celebration by sharing apprentice stories, insights and achievements across our social media channels all week.

The campaign highlights how apprenticeships are working for Scotland - creating careers, supporting employers, strengthening communities and delivering real economic impact.

  • Apprenticeships powering Scotland’s future

Across the country, around 12,000 employers are investing in more than 40,000 Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprentices, helping people develop skills that match real workforce needs.

Apprenticeships deliver significant value for Scotland’s economy. For every £1 of public investment, the Scottish Exchequer receives £4–£5 in return, generating around £450 million in tax and supporting £1 billion of employer investment in skills.

  • Supporting employers and strengthening communities

Scottish Apprenticeships are created with employers, ensuring training is relevant and industry‑led. Nine out of ten employers say apprenticeships significantly improve job performance, demonstrating the impact apprentices make from day one.

Apprentices are contributing to Scotland’s growth sectors, with many working in STEM roles and supporting industries with high workforce demand. They are also helping drive Scotland’s Net Zero ambitions, with a growing share of apprentices developing skills for a greener future.

  • Inclusive opportunities for all

Apprenticeships continue to open doors for people from diverse backgrounds. Over the past five years, more apprentices have identified as care‑experienced, disabled or from minority ethnic backgrounds, reflecting a commitment to widening access and supporting talent across Scotland.

  • Celebrating success

Completion rates for Modern Apprenticeships are at an all‑time high, and 90% of apprentices remain with their employer three months after finishing - a clear sign of strong progression and long‑term opportunity.

Across Argyll, from our coastal villages to our busy town centres, and from family‑run businesses to growing local employers, apprenticeships are helping our region grow, innovate and thrive.
