Gaelic for Beginners
This course will allow you the opportunity to develop basic skills in listening and speaking Gaelic in a relaxed and supportive environment, with a focus on understanding the spoken language. It is suitable for beginners, or those who already have some basic Gaelic skills as a refresher. On successful completion, you will be able to take part in simple conversations and have a deepened appreciation for, and connection with, Scottish culture, heritage and ancestry and an improved understanding of Gaelic place names and songs.
These 2.5 hour classes will be delivered online by a native speaker, in a live classroom environment, which you can either join from your local centre or online from home. You will meet the lecturer and fellow students based predominantly across Argyll and Bute but also from across wider Scotland each week for the interactive class. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice your reading, listening and writing skills with the class as a whole, or in smaller groups and pairs.
You will learn the Gaelic language in the context of society, learning, employment and culture, taking you from beginners level to being able to understand and read simple Gaelic with confidence.
