Argyll College UHI is now open in the Argyll & Bute Council’s Kirkmichael Centre, with a range of full time and short courses on offer. This supplements our provision of full-time Dance and Drama courses which are delivered in conjunction with the renowned Tower Digital Arts Centre.

We have a number of courses that are available to start in January.  Our short full time courses run for 20 weeks and will begin the week commencing 28th January.  Students may be eligible for funding and/or bursary, depending upon their personal circumstances.  Please use the links below to apply now, and where there are no links, pop into the centre to find out more or ring us on 01631 559 538.

Enterprise Skills – this course is focussed on employability skills and on building the skills to run your own business.  It will cover topics such as personal development, financial skills, customer service skills, employability and internet/social media skills.


Short Full Time – Maritime Skills – this exciting course provides a mix of practical and theoretical study, providing an excellent introduction to the maritime environment. There are no formal entry requirements for the course but prospective students are expected to have an active interest in the maritime industry. Topics covered in this course will include small boat engineering, health & safety, employability skills, as well as RYA Powerboat Levels 1 & 2, RYA essential navigation shore based theory, personal survival and first aid, among other things. 



NC Sport & Fitness – this course provides a great introduction to the field of sport and fitness.  This course allows students to continue in education (successful completion of this course provides access to the HNC Fitness, Health & Exercise) or move into other employment options in the Sport and Fitness Industry. It builds knowledge and skills in sport and fitness e.g. personal fitness, how to deal with accidents and emergencies and how to plan activity sessions.  It’s a highly practical course and students should expect to be taking part in a range of activities.



Get Ready For College – this will run as an evening class, one evening per week, and is expected to start in March.  This course will provide students with the core skills to enter college and become a successful student.  The course will cover study skills, communication skills and IT skills.

We will also have the option for students to infill into a number of units on our existing courses – for example, computer games development, website design/development, mobile technology Web Page Creation (apps), and other options.  For more information on these, please contact us directly.
