What is special about this course?
The course is designed for school leavers or individuals that have an interest for agriculture and wish to develop their skills in that area.
This short full-time course will be taught at your local centre and at least one day each week will will be spent gathering practical experience in a work placement setting
Potential students require no specific qualifications for this course. However, all students will be expected to have a keen interest in agriculture and land-based industries. Practical agricultural experience will also be considered favourably. All students will be required to attend interview.
The course will introduce the following areas: 1. Livestock Husbandry, Health and Welfare 2. Livestock Reproduction and Digestive Systems 3. Tractor Operations and Attachments 4. Farm Maintenance Skills 5. Soils and Fertility 6. Grassland Production 7. Dairy Production 8. Calf Rearing Systems 9. Forage Crop Production 10. Crop Production 11. Accident and Emergency Procedures 12. Agricultural Environmental Awareness
None. PPE will be provided for outdoor activities
