What is special about this course?

This course helps you build your English language skills and confidence from intermediate to more advanced level.

You will improve your speaking, listening, reading, and writing, so you can use English more easily in everyday life. The course will prepare you for work, college study, and life in your community, helping you feel more confident using English at home and in social situations.

Applicants may be asked to complete a written evaluation before being accepted onto this course, unless you are continuing from a Level 4 ESOL course.

This course is made up of SQA units at SCQF Levels 5 and 6, helping you develop your English skills for everyday life, study, and work.


ESOL for Everyday Life (Level 5 & 6) - Starts September
You will build your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills for daily situations, such as social activities and everyday tasks. The focus is on understanding and using clear, detailed English to communicate with confidence.


ESOL in Context (Level 5 & 6) - Starts January
This unit develops your English for work and study situations. You will practise communicating in different contexts, learning how to understand and produce more detailed English for real-life purposes.


ESOL Writing for Employment (Level 5) - Starts April
You will learn how to write clear and accurate English for work-related purposes, including personal, social, and workplace writing. This includes using the correct format, vocabulary, and structure to communicate effectively. 


ESOL in Work-Related Contexts (Level 6) - Starts April
You will develop more advanced English skills for a range of workplace situations. This includes understanding and using detailed and complex language when speaking, listening, reading, and writing in professional settings. 


Together, these units help you improve your English for real-life communication, further study, and employment.

This course is delivered in our live, online classroom using MS Teams. Students are expected to attend at their local centre where possible.

Each unit last 12 weeks; 2 evenings per week, Mondays and Wednesdays

Fees

This course consists of 3 SQA units and costs £258.

If you are on a low income or in receipt of certain benefits may receive a fee waiver. Please refer to page 2 of our Fees and Funding Guide to see if you are eligible. You can download a fee waiver form. If you would like help or advice on fee waiver, please contact your nearest learning centre.

For ESOL courses, you may pay £86 for each unit individually.

This course is not available to students who require a Tier 4 Home Office visa to study in Scotland (international or EU).
