What is special about this course?

This is a great introductory course to start a career in Hairdressing. You will get a chance to master the basic skills and learn commercial cutting, colouring and styling skills. 

You will learn in the classroom and the colleges own salon based at the Dunoon centre giving you a hands-on experience of a real Salon.   

Entry requirements

No formal academic entry requirements. Applicants must be 16 years or older at the start date of the course.

 

 

Shampooing, Conditioning and Scalp Massage will introduce you to hair and skin and teach you how to choose and use products while incorporating appropriate massage techniques. You then will move onto  

Blow Drying Techniques where you will gain the skills  and techniques on how to choose appropriate styles for clients through consultation.  

Setting and Winding Techniques for Hair will teach you the basics and what tools to use before moving on to Basic cuts for ladies hairdressing where you will develop the knowledge skills and techniques to do a range of basic haircutting categories.  

Mix, apply and remove colour will give you the practically learn about the techniques required while investigating the safe working practices.  

Reception duties and customer care will give you an experience of the front facing skills required within the industry. 

Portfolio presentation gives you the chance to plan and build a portfolio of completed practical work and learn how to present it in a relevant style.

  • Full Time

This course is taught face to face with time in the classroom to learn the theoretical side of hairdressing and practical time in the College Salon honing your skills with clients and models.
