What is special about this course?
This course is a progression from the Sage Line 50 Beginner course and deals with the more sophisticated management features, bank reconciliation and VAT returns.
You will need to have basic computer skills. You should also have the Sage skills contained in the Sage Line 50 Beginner course.
This course covers the following topics:
- Create statements and process customer receipts
- Enter purchase invoices and manage supplier payments
- Understand the nominal ledger; make journal entries and view nominal code activity
- Make bank transfers, petty cash transactions and combined payments
- Bank reconciliation
- Recurring entries
- Understand and process a VAT return, and submit to HMRC
- Produce standard accounting reports and the audit trail

This course is studied by Open Learning self-study. Before the course you will attend a short induction in the learning centre, when you will be provided with your pack of learning materials. There are formative assessments for you to complete, which are exercises along the way to ensure you understand the course.
You will be provided with contact details for your tutor, who will be available by phone or email. If you have problems with any of the exercises, or difficulties in understanding the course, ask your tutor. Your tutor is there to help you with any problems, however small.
How long will my course last?
Completion of the course will require approximately 20 hours of study.
