Entry requirements

You should be able to demonstrate previous independent study at SCQF Level 3 or have relevant industry or life experience. All applications are welcomed with an open mind—come in for a chat. You may be invited for interview.

For younger learners and school leavers, our Access to College course may provide a more appropriate learning route.

You will be introduced to different areas of curriculum by lectures from various subject areas and guided as to what progression routes are open to you after successful completion of this course.  You will study a range of topics, and will work alone and in groups. You will work together to build coping strategies and enhance your personal development. 

During the 11 week course you'll be supported to develop in the following areas:

  • Studying and learning 

  • Research 

  • Time Management 

  • Personal development 

  • Coping mechanisms and strategies 

  • Confidence in communication 

  • Completing assignments (homework) 

  • Group work skills 

  • Digital skills

     

How will I study my course?

Expect a rich blend of in person support at your local centre and real-time online classes utilising technologies like Microsoft Teams. You'll join classmates both onsite and from our other locations—this network brings diverse perspectives together for collaborative learning.

  • Course lasts 11 weeks, starting February 2026.
  • Full-time attendance (about 2.5 days per week).

The course will run over 2 half days and 1 full day per week from February 2026.

Funding

Bursary for Living Costs 

If you are 18 years of age or over on the start date of your course, and will be studying full-time you may be eligible for bursary funding, depending on your household income. Our bursary fund is finite and is allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis so it’s important to make your application for bursary as soon as the application process opens in July. You will need to have accepted our offer before you apply. 

If you are under 18 you may be eligible for EMA. EMA is paid at a rate of £30 per week dependent on your total household income.

You may also be eligible for assistance with travel and childcare, and we have discretionary funds for those students in need. You can find all the information you need in our funding pages
