What is special about this course?

These National Progression Awards (NPAs) will enable you to improve your digital and games development skills.

  • You'll gain an NPA which is recognised by employers. You can undertake more than 1 NPA at a time but you should speak to us if you wish to do this, so that we can advise you on your chosen course of study.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entrance requirements although you should enjoy working with others and have a real interest in computer games development.

NPA Digital Media  - Course Fee £258, 

Start date Aug 25

This is a hands-on course where you'll create digital content like videos, animations, and websites. It helps you build creative and technical skills using industry tools, preparing you for further study or a career in digital media. Its a great precursor to NPA Computer Games Design, but not essential.

You'll study 3 units:

  • Audio
  • Moving Images
  • Still Images

NPA Computer Games Development  - Course Fee £258,

If you love playing computer games and want to learn how to make your own, then the NPA Computer Games Development SCQF level 5 course is for you. This course will teach you the basics of game design, media assets and development. You will learn how to use different tools and techniques to create your own games for various platforms and genres. You will also develop your coding skills and computational thinking, which are essential for the computer games industry. By the end of this course, you will have an example of a game designed by you that you can showcase to potential employers or further education providers. 

You'll study 3 units:

  • Computer Games: Design
  • Computer Games: Development
  • Computer Games: Media Assets

How will I study my course?

  • Part Time

Your course will generally be a mix of local centre-based learning time, and flexible learning time. You need to commit to both, but you can choose when to complete flexible learning to fit around work, caring and personal commitments. 

You will attend your local centre to learn together with your lecturers and fellow classmates in an online classroom. As well as having fellow students with you in your local centre, you may also connect with students in our other locations.

Fees

The fee for this course is £344.

If you are on a low income or in receipt of certain benefits may receive a fee waiver. Please refer to page 2 of our Fees and Funding Guide to see if you are eligible. You can download a FEE WAIVER FORM here.  If you would like help or advice on fee waiver, please contact your nearest learning centre.

If you do not qualify for a fee waiver, you may be able to apply for an Individual Training Account (ITA) to cover up to £200 the cost of this course.

This course is not available to students who require a Tier 4 Home Office visa to study in Scotland (international or EU).
