Modern Apprenticeship: Hospitality Services SCQF Level 5

What is special about this course?

The Diploma for Hospitality Team Member SCQF Level 5 is designed to support the development of candidates working in hospitality roles such as a bartender, housekeeper, waiter, barista and guest services. 

This Modern Apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity for those working in hospitality to gain a recognised qualification by building a portfolio of evidence showcasing their competency in the different work activity they undertake, developing knowledge skills and expertise required by this fast-paced industry. 

Whether working in a small independent hospitality business, or a large franchise, this apprenticeship can be shaped around the individual, their job role, and their employer, offering a unique opportunity to increase skills and enhance behaviours. 

Entry requirements

No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification; however, candidates must be in a suitable job role, where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities, which allow them to gather the required evidence, and have been so for a minimum of 12 weeks prior to commencing the qualification. 

This Modern Apprenticeship framework is developed by the Sector Skills Council in consultation with employers and key partners in the industry. 

The Modern Apprenticeship is made up of 4 elements:

  1. Diploma for Hospitality Team Member SCQF Level 5
  2. Core Skills 
  3. Meta Skills (embedded in qualification)
  4. Mandatory Enhancement (e.g. Emergency First Aid at Work, Basic Food Hygiene)

Candidates must complete 10 units in total – 3 mandatory and 7 optional.

The 3 mandatory units are: 

  • Working as Part of a Team
  • Providing Customer Service
  • Developing Meta Skills and Personal Practice

You will engage in practical learning experiences within the workplace, where you'll create evidence-based submissions for your e-portfolio. Additionally, a college assessor will visit to conduct observations to further evaluate your skills and progress.

Fees

Social Services, Families and Young People. Wednesdays 9.00-4.00pm consists of 3 SQA units and costs £258.

Care of Children Thursdays 9.00-1.00pm consists of 2 SQA units and costs £172

If you are on a low income or in receipt of certain benefits may receive a fee waiver. Please refer to page 2 of our Fees and Funding Guide to see if you are eligible. You can download a FEE WAIVER FORM here.  If you would like help or advice on fee waiver, please contact your nearest learning centre.

If you do not qualify for a fee waiver, you may be able to apply for an Individual Training Account (ITA) to cover up to £200 the cost of this course.

This course is not available to students who require a Tier 4 Home Office visa to study in Scotland (international or EU).

The Diploma for Hospitality Team Member SCQF Level 5 can lead to a promotion within your organisation, a higher-level apprenticeship such as Hospitality (Supervision and Leadership at SCQF Level 7, the opportunity and confidence to take your skills anywhere in the world!
