How do you want to study?

We recognise the demands placed on those wishing to learn by other commitments such as work, childcare and geography and we aim to work around these obstacles by making our courses as accessible as possible.

We've focused on offering a high degree of flexibility in the way our courses are delivered and you can choose to study by open or online learning, as well as partly or full taught.

Open learning

You have complete choice over where and when to study and you will have access to a tutor by telephone or email. Many of our courses are available in this format, meaning you can be at home, work or in a learning centre as you work towards your qualification.

Online learning

We offer a number of courses via online learning, which means that course materials and tutor support are provided through an online learning environment accessed through the internet. Again, you are free to study at home, in the workplace or at your nearest learning centre.

Partly taught

The course will be delivered through a combination of taught classes in a learning centre and open learning.

Fully taught

The course is entirely taught at a learning centre and you must attend all classes.  The majority of these courses are part-time but a few are full-time.

We've set up our learning centres to have flexible opening times and offer a stimulating and friendly environment for you to study.

However you choose to study, you local learning centre manager will be your key point of contact. He/she will be available to you throughout the lifetime of your studies to ensure you get all the help and support you need to be a success.

Our learning centres can

  • Help you decided which course is most appropriate for your needs
  • Help you carry set out goals and targets to ensure you keep your studies on track
  • Arrange for learning materials to be sent to you
  • Organise access to learning centre facilities and help you use equipment
  • Provide exit guidance before you complete your course so that you are putting your new qualification to good use

Whether you're considering a short course, further education, studying towards your first degree or improving your skills in the workplace, this section of the site will point you in the right learning direction.
