What is special about this course?
This is a recognised qualification and on completion of the course the student can apply for jobs in an early years support worker role or progress onto Social Services Children and Young People SCQF Level 7.
Entry requirements
You must be willing to attend placement. You must also have one of the following:

Current or previous experience working in a childcare setting.

Successful completion of 'Towards a Career in Childcare'.
This vocational course aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to work with children and young people 0 – 21 years in a variety of settings and to qualify the student to work in a support role. You will gain an international recognised qualification which guarantees that you have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out your role successfully.
The course consists of 4 mandatory Units and 2 optional Units.
You will be required to undergo a PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) check.
How will I study my course?
- Part Time
Students will have the support of a tutor who will attend their workplace to observe their practice, and assist them in the completion of their portfolio of evidence and support with underpinning knowledge.

The course will be completed over 2 academic years.

What can I do on completion of my course?
Upon successful completion, students will gain a recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.
Students can progress onto Social Services Children and Young People SCQF Level 7, depending on their job role and level of responsibility.
