The SVQ 2 Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Services (Construction)
have been developed by the Sector Skills Council ConstructionSkills and are
intended for people in general construction work.
These people may be working as general labourers, ground workers or builders’
labourers. They will require skills and knowledge in general workplace safety, the use
of efficient working practices, protecting work areas, laying domestic drains, placing
and finishing concrete.

The SVQ 2 Construction Operations course consists of a ten-week programme divided into a number blocks throughout the year. During each week of the programme, candidates will attend college for five days with the following units covered:
Practical delivery takes place in the wet trades workshop and dedicated external area at the college's Construction, Engineering and Renewables Centre (CERC) in Lochgilphead.
Class-based theory work takes place in the IT suite and classroom at the same facility.

This course is a component part of the Construction Operations Modern Apprenticeships, and successful candidates will progress towards completion of their Modern Apprenticeship.
