H24H 75 ESOL for Everyday Life
The general aim of this Unit is to develop the language skills needed for everyday life in familiar personal, social and transactional contexts for learners whose first language is not English. Learners develop the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, using detailed English language.
H24L 75 ESOL in Context
The general aim of this Unit is to develop the language skills needed for familiar work- and study-related contexts for learners whose first language is not English. Learners develop the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, using detailed English language. In this Unit, the contexts of either work or study will be personalised to meet the needs of learners.
Entry to these Units are at the discretion of the centre. However, learners would normally be expected to have attained the skills, knowledge and understanding required by one or more of the following or equivalent qualifications and/or experience: National 4 ESOL Course or relevant component Units
In terms of prior learning and experience, relevant experiences and outcomes may also provide an appropriate basis for doing these Units.
H24H 75 ESOL for Everyday Life and H24L 75 ESOL in Context
Learners who complete these units will be able to:
1 Understand detailed language written in English
2 Produce written English using detailed language
3 Understand detailed language spoken in English
4 Communicate orally in English using detailed language.
Subject to sufficient numbers this course will be delivered as a taught class face-to-face or by VC
Materials will be provided by the tutor as required.
National 5 ESOL for Everyday Life and ESOL in Context will be delivered in 44 hours each. ( SCQF Credit points)
If candidates wish to attain the additional group award ESOL National 5, they must also complete the ESOL Asseassment which includes six SCQF credit points to allow additional time for preparation for Course assessment. The Course assessment covers the added value of the Course. Further information on the Course assessment is provided in the Assessment section.
