This qualification is designed to equip the student with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for further study within Beauty Care and Make-Up or to gain employment at a junior level within the sector. The emphasis of the award is to develop basic skills with the focus on practical activities which will be carried out in a realistic work environment.
Applicants should have achieved 4 SQA qualifications at National 4 or above. Mature students may obtain entry by interview and/or previous experience.
If you don't meet our standard entry requirements, your previous experience and credentials may still qualify you for this course. For example, you may have completed a school-based NPA qualification in a beauty-related subject. Please arrange an appointment with a member of college staff to discuss your eligibility.
When undertaking this award you will study skills which are appropriate to Beauty Care and Make-Up. You will study skills areas which include Customer Care, selling skills, facial skin care, day and corrective make-up, bridal and evening make-up and manicure. You may then specialise by undertaking units in nail art, waxing, massage and special make-ups.

This is a full time course where owing to the very practical nature of the award you will be expected to work in a realistic work environment with clients.
